Proving the old saying "Everything that goes around, comes around." JR Harris, team lead and head cook of Oinking on the River, and Tom Tribo, team lead and head cook of Melting Pot Roasters, announced today that they will be reuniting and combining the cooking strengths of both orginizations under the Oinking on the River name. The move brings these old friends (and the two teams) back together after a four year separation. Begun in 1995 as Bubbas Bankok Barbecue, the team was initially formed by Tom Tribo and Keith Humphreys and joined a year later by JR Harris. Although they started small, competing in the Patio Porkers division until 1999, the team grew quickly in size and cooking skill and in 2000 graduated into the main division shocking the competition circuit with a 3rd place finish in the Shoulder category at the prestigious Memphis In May International Festival. The split in late 2000 into two teams was done to allow each to focus on their core competencies, Tom and Melting Pot Roasters on Shoulder, and JR and the newly formed Oinking on the River team on Ribs. The first combined event will be this years Lakeland Funfest comnig up in just a few short weeks, June 17-19, at the Agricenter International in Memphis, Tennessee. |
