After coming home with great results but no trophys from this years World Championships at the Memphis in May International Festival, the Tennesse and Texas based barbeque team Oinking on the River was hungry for hadware as team lead Alan Geren explains.
"We had a great time at Tom Lee [the site of the Memphis in May event] but it was disappointing to come away with nothing to show for it. Everybody on this team competes at a very high level and we're out here for the hardware." He points out the teams display table impressively covered with trophies and other accolades.
"That's what it's all about and I was proud of all of us for our ability to set that disappointment aside and come back with a real focus to do what we do best, cooking championship barbecue and having fun doing it."
And that's just what they did as each of the teams primary cooks, JR Harris, Alan Geren, Ric Hocanson and Terri Craig received a top three trophy. Special congratulations to Ric for his first walk across the stage. Outstanding!
