Looking to start the 2006 competition season in fine form, and help introduce Memphis barbecue to the central Louisiana area, Oinking on the River announces the team will begin 2006 at the inaugural "Que'in on the Red" BBQ festival at North Levee Park, March 24-25, in Alexandria, Louisiana.

"Although it's only February I can already smell the aroma in the air." Team lead Alan Geren told reporters at the recent press announcement. "We just wanted to let you all know that we will be attending the first Memphis in May sanctioned cooking contest of the season, "Que'in on the Red", in Alexandria, Louisiana this March. J.R. tells me that Tom Tribo (formerly of Melting Pot Roasters and the combined team of early 2005) will be accompanying us to partake in the cooking of shoulders for judging, and be assisted by none other than our own Keith Humphreys who'll be returning to the front lines of cooking after an absence that was way too long. Wish us all luck and lets bring home the hardware."
