Maintaining the momentum from last year, Oinking on the River begins 2006 with two wins at the inaugural Que'in on the Red BBQ Cooking Contest. Taking home the 2nd Place Trophy for Ribs and the 3rd Place Trophy for Poultry, the Oinking team wishes to express our gratitude to the city and people of Alexandria, Louisiana for welcoming the competition circuit and giving us the opportunity to do what we do best.
"You know this is a really great thing for the city." Team member John (JC) Chivian told Tyana Williams during an interview with the local NBC affilliate KALB TV covering the event. "All of Louisiana has really been pounded by the hurricanes and it was a honor for us to be invited to be a part of the competition, which I think is an important part of the healing process for the whole area. We're really looking forward to getting it started and being a part of this new Alexandria tradition."

"There was only one small disappointment." Team Lead and Head Cook JR Harris said afterward. "It was really great to have Tom Tribo back with us for the Shoulder competition so to miss out on the 5th Place Trophy by only three points was tough. Don't get me wrong, sixth place was a great finish but we're all very competitive and that hardware means a lot to every member of the team. It would have been really special to get an award in each category we entered so missing by just that narrow little bit was hard. Man that third trophy would really have been nice!"
