Back to Oinking on the River

The Sweet Taste of Success and Victory!

Proving once again that diversity in styles and talents is a good thing, and that a good BBQ cooking contest is about more than just smoke and meat, Oinking on the River takes home the 1st Place Trophy for Desert at the 34th Annual Worlds Oldest BBQ Cooking Contest in Covington, Tennessee. It was the first victory for team member Melissa Cheney who normally tries to stay out of the limelight and away from the camera lens.

"I was really shocked!" Melissa said afterward during a quiet moment. "I knew the pie turned out well, and it smelled so good cooking, but I didn't really think it would win." She laughs and pats the beautiful silver platter award before placing it on the trophy table. "Although I guess it's what the judges think that counts in the end."

Melissa becomes the fifth award winning member of the Oinking on the River team. Congratulations!
